I appreciate feedback from all of my students, whether in follow-up lessons or by phone or e-mail. Nothing makes me happier than receiving a phone call from a student saying that they have overcome a particular frustration in their game, won an event or dropped their handicap after a series of lessons.

Here are a few words from some of my students, which I think best reflect my teaching style and ability.

“As someone who had been a frustrated hacker for many years, Michael’s coaching has been invaluable. I found that I really benefited from his relaxed and encouraging style of coaching. He built my swing up step by step, pushing me to improve, but never overloading me. The changes that he helped me make to my swing enabled me, within a few weeks of beginning lessons, to win my weekly club competition on several occasions (something I had never done before) and to reduce my handicap by 8 strokes.”

Greg Kennedy

“Michael thinks I’m one of his “star” students. But all credit to him for transforming me from a golfer who analysed the game too much and, as a consequence, had a very mechanical swing. Michael’s tuition and unending patience has given me the confidence to swing smoothly and fluidly, with the consequence that not only do I play better, but I’m also at much less risk of injury.

It has always been a pleasure to be coached by Michael because of his unbridled enthusiasm for the task at hand and his obvious passion for the sport. You know therefore that it’s not just a job but something that he really enjoys doing.”

Vin Jenkins

“Michael’s manner when coaching is one that encapsulates professionalism, enthusiasm and a friendliness that encouraged me to want to have further lessons. I had previously received lessons from other golf professionals, at various locations and Michael was by far the most professional and encouraging tutor.”

"I guess I have been a pretty unremarkable golfer for more years than I care to remember. When Mike took me on as a student, I was playing to a handicap of 26. After only 4 to 5 weeks, I am now playing off 19. I suppose this promotes me from unremarkable to, perhaps, "Not too bad". Mike is the reason for this. He was able to explain and show to me some of the fundamental things I was doing wrong. Not a mean feat when you consider that it would seem easier to get a gorilla into a dinner suit than to correct the many faults I had acquired over the years. Thanks Mike for your skill and patience."
